MCREA Lineworker Scholarship Application

Availability:
Morgan County REA Lineworker Scholarship(s) will be awarded to applicants selected by the Lineworker Scholarship Committee. Applicant must reside within the boundaries of MCREA’s service area in order to be considered.
- Scholarships are in the amount of $5,000 each.
- Scholarship applicants may be any person interested in a career in electric line work that will or has completed high school or its equivalent and is enrolled in or currently attending power line school. Assuming applicant has met the age requirements for enrollment in a lineworker training program, there are no age restrictions to apply for MCREA’s Lineworker Scholarship.
Selection Process:
Morgan County REA's Lineworker Scholarship Committee will review all completed applications that are submitted. Applicants must meet scholarship requirements in order to be considered. Based on application, the committee will select applicants to participate in an interview.
Applicants will be scored on experience, job knowledge, education, motivation, expression, appearance and overall impression.
Scholarship Payment:
If selected as a scholarship winner, the scholarship payment will be made directly to the student's school of choice. The scholarship will be divided equally over each semester of the program. Verification of enrollment and GPA must be sent to MCREA Lineworker Scholarship Committee upon completion of each semester in order for subsequent scholarship fund payments to be made. No further scholarship money will be awarded in the event the student fails to complete the program or fails to maintain a 3.0 GPA.
Post-School Employment:
Scholarship recipients are in no way guaranteed or required to be employed at Morgan County REA upon completion of training.
